Halloween in Salem!
I’ve always loved Halloween, so this year, my friend Carlos & I decided to go big. What could be bigger than spending All Hallow’s Eve in Salem, Massachusetts!
Our first stop was the Salem Witch Museum, a very thoughtful exploration of religious paranoia & the sad fate of the Witch trial victims.
HOCUS POCUS was filmed all over town, including the Ropes Mansion and the Old Town Hall. As a lifelong fan of the film, it was a thrill to walk around and feel inside the movie itself.
The graveyard features the burial sites of several of the judges of the Witch Trials, but victims themselves were not allowed to be buried here. Instead, markers have been placed next to it to honor them.
Salem also has other historical landmarks, including the famous House of the Seven Gables, which was the inspiration for the Nathaniel Hawthorne book, as well as the oldest candy shop in the United States!
And on top of all that, I was thrilled to discover that Salem has not one, but TWO pirate museums!
