On June 1st, after 6 long years of waiting, Vidiots finally reopened! The iconic Santa Monica video store is now in Eagle Rock, and it includes two cinema screens!

I have been volunteering with Vidiots over the past month to help get the video store up and running, unloading boxes of DVDS, alphabetizing the shelves & relabeling the DVD sleeves. With over 60,000 titles in stock, it took lots of volunteers working around the clock, under the supervision of our terrific video store manager Robbie!

The Eagle Rock theater has been completely refurbished, and they’re already screening films on a daily basis. I had to check out “Who Framed Roger Rabbit,” one of my all time favorite films, and a great Los Angeles film at that. They also have smaller microcinema that will be used for even more screenings!

I’m honored to be a part of the “Dream Team” wall by the entrance. The official opening party for Members & Friends of Vidiots was an incredible melting pot of the LA film community. I’m so happy that Vidiots has brought so many people together, and they all recognize the importance of video stores and cinemas and social gathering places for people who love film. Thank you to Maggie Mackay for keeping this dream alive! And thank you to Patty Polinger and Cathy Tauber for starting Vidiots way back in 1985!
