Writing for LUNCHMEAT VHS
If you’re a fan of VHS culture, you’re probably already aware of Lunchmeat VHS, the incredible site run by Josh Schaefer. Not only is there a Lunchmeat magazine, there’s also merchandise, special VHS releases, and now the book Stuck on VHS, celebrating the art of video store stickers.
I am lucky enough to be a contributing writer in the latest issue of Lunchmeat, with my review of 1980s teen sex comedy “Pink Nights,” available only on VHS. I didn’t love the film, but it’s still decent, and if you’re a fan of John Hughes and “Risky Business” and you’re clamoring for more of the era, it’s worth seeking out.
I submitted some stickers to Stuck on VHS, and now there’s a supplement magazine with more stickers, as well as new articles. I wrote an obituary for Odyssey Video, the North Hollywood video store that closed in 2018. Los Angeles it the birthplace of the video store, and now there are so few left. Vidiots can’t reopen soon enough.
You can buy both of these & more on the Lunchmeat website! Support Josh and other members of the VHS community that are creating art and celebrating the glory of videocassette!
